Nature & Wildlife

There are lots of activities to enjoy in the ‘great outdoors’ surrounding Verbier.

Walking and hiking

There is a wealth of nature and wildlife to be enjoyed by simply taking a hike on the well-marked routes in the mountains around the resort. In the Verbier St Bernard region there are 950 km of footpaths, which will take you into the heart of nature. Explore the bisses (irrigation canals), footpaths, traditional villages and nature reserves.

Visit the tourist office to pick up walking maps. Suggestions for hikes can also be found here: Hiking routes Verbier

You can also take advantage of the lift system that is open during the summer to get you into the mountains quickly so you can explore the wilderness. The lifts run every day from July through to the end of September and weekends only in June and October. Please click here for the summer lift schedule.

If you want to be more adventurous and explore more remote areas, hike up to the higher trails or learn more about your surrounding environment, then it is a great idea to take a guided walk.

For a range of summer and winter activities visit the Verbier Guides website.

Photography Walks

Immortalize the classic scenic splendour of the mountains in an artistic and creative manner by taking a Photo – Rando with professional photographer and photography teacher Sébastien Albert. Photo Rando’s take place every Tuesday throughout July, August, September and October. Sébastien also runs short courses in photography throughout the seasons.
